Funding at a Glance
Outgoing:
- More than $67,000 in grants awarded to Pennsylvania news organizations since 2019
- Funding supports new initiatives and enhancements to existing projects
- Projects funded include podcasts, internships, freelance reporting, training, diversity initiatives, climate coverage, technology and audience growth
Additional investments:
- Nearly $100,000 to the Lab for Journalism Funding supporting community projects
- $5,500 to advance media literacy initiatives
- Administration of the Newsroom Internship Program
Incoming:
- $115,000 raised for the 2026 Newsroom Internship Program and beyond to place more students in more newsrooms across the commonwealth and further connect student and professional journalists
- $3,000 raised for the Center of Journalism Excellence Meet the Moment training series kickoff in Pittsburgh with two national speakers addressing journalism safety in the field.

Through the Center for Journalism Excellence and the PNA Foundation Fellows grant program, the Foundation supports initiatives that help news organizations innovate, grow and better serve their communities. Supporting Journalism Through Grants
The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation advances its philanthropic mission through strategic investments in local journalism. Through the PNA Foundation Fellows grant program, the Foundation supports news organizations in launching new initiatives, strengthening existing efforts and exploring innovative approaches to reporting, audience engagement and sustainability.
