The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation is committed to strengthening local journalism across the commonwealth through philanthropy, strategic partnerships and targeted investments in the future of news.
Through the Center for Journalism Excellence and the PNA Foundation Fellows grant program, the Foundation supports initiatives that help news organizations innovate, grow and better serve their communities. Supporting Journalism Through Grants
The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation advances its philanthropic mission through strategic investments in local journalism. Through the PNA Foundation Fellows grant program, the Foundation supports news organizations in launching new initiatives, strengthening existing efforts and exploring innovative approaches to reporting, audience engagement and sustainability.

Sustaining Fellow
Over $10,000
Supports long-term sustainability through newsroom operations such as technology, personnel and internships.
Philanthropic Fellow
$5,000 – $10,000
Supports advanced training and new business models such as the first statewide journalism fundraising lab connecting reporters to their communities.
Education Fellow
$1,000 – $5,000
Supports ongoing journalism training on basic newsgathering techniques and reporting, legal knowledge and navigating the evolving media climate.
Funding Fellow
Up to $1,000
Supports the annual Fellows Fund awarding grants to a variety of projects and technology including podcasts, photojournalism and product development.
