“Meet the Moment” Monthly Training

“Meet the Moment” refers to the practical training, discussions and solutions designed to address pressing issues that journalists are experiencing in today’s volatile field environment.

Sessions will include timely, relevant topics, including:

  • The emotional weight of reporting on trauma and preventing burnout
  • Safety for journalists in the field
  • First Amendment core principles of newsgathering rights
  • First Amendment court access and transparency
  • Data journalism in election integrity
  • Shared content and citizen journalism

Project

Lab For Journalism Funding

Partner: Local Media Association

Details

A four-month training program with 12 participating news media organizations. Participants built deeper community connections and developed reporting projects to be funded through philanthropy.

Outcomes

PNAF financially supported winning community projects for advancement, including conflict resolution training in Butler, Pa. and a community “Baby and You” health expo in Sharon Hill, Pa. related to their project of infant mortality.

Sustainability Accelerator Lab

Partner: Blue Engine Collaborative

Details

An immersive 10-month training program with 10 participating news organizations where they learn to improve key revenue, operations and audience growth metrics through consultative coaching.

Outcomes

A final report will be available in the spring of 2026.
